SCHOOLS

WESTRIDGE ECD, PRIMARY AND HIGH SCHOOL

Westridge Schools are multi-cultural, multi-racial, non-governmental, non-profit making and educational institutions that offer education from ECD to Upper 6.  We operate under the auspices of the Hindu Society (Responsible Authority) and within the confines of the regulatory instruments outlined by the Ministry of Education, Art, Sports and Culture.  The Founders’ vision of providing quality, all round education that satisfies every child spiritually, physically, intellectually, culturally and emotionally is the cornerstone of the school’s philosophy.

The school has approximately 72 ECD, 373 Primary School and 216 High School students and follows the traditional Zimbabwean-British system of education in which examinations are administered at both Ordinary Level, and at Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level.  It is a well-equipped school with state of the art facilities both sports and education.

Westridge Schools aim to create and maintain an exciting and rewarding learning environment that educates, enlightens and makes pupils functional in the society in which they will serve.

THE WESTRIDGE PROMISE

Westridge Schools promise to offer education of the highest quality by being dedicated to:

  • The provision of a balanced, holistic and culturally diverse curriculum.
  • An Academic approach which teaches our pupils to think, assimilate and apply knowledge, rather than learn by role.
  • Continually review and renew policies to ensure that the education provided remains relevant, challenging and appropriate to the needs of our pupils.
  • Exposing our children to a wide spectrum of cultural experiences, which will enrich and expand their horizons, and develop in each pupil an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of social, cultural and political thought in our “global village”.
  • Create a school “ethos” which fosters mutual respect and a regard for the uniqueness of and tolerance for the dignity of each child.
  • Promoting an Aesthetic appreciation by fostering creativity through the Arts and Music.
  • The provision of suitably qualified and experienced teachers who will inspire, enthuse and challenge our pupils to their fullest by employing a wide range of teaching and assessment methodology, suited to our pupil’s different learning styles and levels of development.
  • Creating equal opportunities, racial harmony and social justice in a safe, caring and stimulating environment that encourages and enables all our pupils to develop academically, socially and spiritually.
  • Offering a wide variety of sport and extra-curricular pursuits, to develop our pupils understanding of excellence, teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Promoting and developing a close liaison with our parent body, so as to foster a friendly and effective partnership between home and school.

GUJARATI SCHOOL

Gujarati is considered our mother tongue which is one of the many important reasons why we should learn it. It helps to communicate with relatives, especially our elders, friends and colleagues, and enables us to retain our culture. Gujarati belongs to the Indo-European family. It is spoken by over 40 million people. Like the other Indian languages, it has descended from Sanskrit. Being able to speak a second language (bilingual) helps you to multitask, enhances your productivity and is an asset, especially as the top 2 billionaires in India are Gujarati!

Learning Gujarati is an investment in yourself, in your career and in your life.
